A-B-C-1-2-3 Healthy Kids in Tennessee: Let's Eat Well, Play Every Day! is a program of  Middle Tennessee State University Center for Health and Human Services and Middle Tennessee State University Center for Physical Activity and Health in Youth. The program has been modified based on outcomes from pilot testing and field studies as well as feedback from expert reviewers as part of Vanderbilt University's Center for Clinical and Translational Research.

A-B-C-1-2-3 Healthy Kids promotes healthy living habits in preschoolers by providing educational opportunities to childcare providers, who in turn educate children and their families on healthy living so that future generations have a reduced risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and other chronic conditions that may be attributable to lifestyle.

The program was field tested in multiple childcare centers during 2007-2011 and  has  expanded its scope by providing online education  and resources for childcare providers. We have had the opportunity to partner with the Tennessee Department of Health's Gold Sneaker intitative in several Tennessee counties to provide a policy-based component to participating childcare centers. Combining the two programs allows for a comprehensive means of addressing change through policy as well as at the individual, family, and community level.
